School Maintenance

Fairfield Community,

We have had some inquiry about the project and equipment in the school parking lot, so I would like to share what is going on.

This is a necessary maintenance project to protect the structural integrity of the shop building and it's foundation.

Basically, we are digging a new "dry well" for the excess water coming off the high school buildings. The previous system is failing to hold all the water in a storm, which was starting to push out under the foundation of the shop. The best solution was to intercept the old line and re-route it into a new dry well in in front of the high school.

This is actually a fairly small and straight forward project, but appears to have a large footprint due to the equipment and gravel necessary. The new well had to be large enough, when filled with gravel, to hold a calculated amount of water. The depth of that well required more than your average back hoe and quite a bit of gravel to backfill the new reservoir.

The project will be complete on Monday, Oct 7th with the pouring of a new ADA compliant sidewalk over where the new drain line was dug in.

Special Thanks to

H&L Construction, Complete Mechanical and Falls Mechanical for their help with this project.

Also, thank you to the staff and students for your patience during the inconvenience.
